CONFIGURATION - RUNNING THE DIGIT SPANA computerized profiler for determining memory span based on the wechsler adult intelligence scale . Each point scored equates to 1 IQ point . George Miller benchmarked this figure at 7 PLUS OR MINUS 2 . The significance of this figure is it's limiting influence on the learning curves .To run the test select Audio only button , tab across to memory span and press start and wait for the random sequence of numbers to begin and end . Data is entered after each sequence with the mouse . Starting with a sequence of 3 this test is totally automated and will continue until the user fails to match the on screen sequence at which point scores are recorded . To complete the test the user must select Reverse and begin again this time entering data in the reverse order , last digit first . The test again will continue until a sequence is entered incorrectly . The results are recorded and totaled . TABBED CONTROL :The Main interface contains a tabbed control where the user can switch between analysis and test .Analysis - results of test calculated at point of failure and a brief instruction panel outlining how to take the test . Span - Contains 9 boxes numbered 1- 9 for entering mouse data and a Button Bar Forward/Reverse - set direction of input Automatic/Manual - toggles switch from continuous to user initiated action Repeat - repeats the sequence TOOLBAR : The toolbar facilitates switching cues on and off Mutli sensory cues Audio Visual Reset Trainer [T] icon set to on and off to display full number sequence in the status bar Interrupt The toolbar functions can be identified by tooltips which can be activated by hovering the mouse over the icons . Settings are displayed in the status bars at the foot of the form . BUTTON BAR : contains three options Audio - Audio only Visual - Visual only Options - Context sensitive Tab Analysis - configuration slider bar for setting interval and start point Tab Test - for numeric/alphabetic STATUS BAR : Where time , settings and feedback on failure are displayed . |
